What is a lash lift and tint?
A lash lift and tint is a low-maintenance, semi-permanent treatment that gives you the appearance of fuller, curled eyelashes. You are in and out in less than an hour. The treatment basically allows you to skip out on curling and application of mascara and not have to worry about removing your mascara at the end of the day. You also get the luxury of not having to worry about the dreaded "smudged mascara" look.
A lash lift and lash tint are technically two different treatments, however, we generally recommend doing them in conjunction with one another.
A lash lift is basically a perm for your lashes. It essentially curls your lashes like you would get out of a really good eyelash curler. It's done by attaching a rod or a shield - different
rods/shields are used depending on desired curl - to the upper eyelid. The lashes are then attached to the rod/shield with a gentle lash adhesive, in an even and fanned out manner - how the lashes look on the rod/shield will be how they look off the rod.
A lifting solution is then applied to
each of the lashes about one-third of the way up, avoiding the lash ends, to reduce the risk of over processing and damaging the lashes. The lift solution is removed and a setting solution is then applied to really lock in that beautiful, lifted curl that has been created. The setting solution is removed and the lashes are now ready for the tint.
A lash tint is a dye - similar to hair dye - specifically formulated to be safe for use around the eyes. It's like using an awesome mascara that gives you darker, longer looking lashes. Following the lash lift, a dye is applied to the lashes on the rod or shield. The dye is then removed from the rod and lashes. Afterwards, the lashes are removed from the rod or shield and combed out with a lash spoolie. This will leave you with more vibrant, voluminous lashes.
What does the lash lift and tint aftercare look like?
Lash lift and tint aftercare requires zero maintenance, however, the curl is still in the process of setting for 24 hours after the treatment. Therefore there are some things you want to avoid within the first 24 hours.
AVOID GETTING YOUR LASHES WET FOR 24-48 HOURS. Try to keep your lashes as dry as possible, including steam anywhere from being in a hot tub, to being in a sauna.
Avoid sports and recreation activities that may cause you to sweat.
If possible, try to sleep on your back or even you side for at least the first 24 hours.
Avoid rubbing or touching your lashes with your fingers. Your fingers contain natural oils that can affect the life of the lift and tint.
Avoid using mascara for the first 24 hours. DO NOT USE WATERPROOF MASCARA, as well avoid oil-based mascara.
For the first 24 hours, avoid using oil based products, such as various skincare and makeup products. Do not use an oil-based makeup remover either.
DO NOT pick and pluck at your lashes.
After about 24 hours, you can pretty much go back to business as usual between your skincare and makeup routine. It is advised to wear goggles when swimming to avoid the chlorine, and wear sunglasses to avoid the UV rays. Both can affect and shorten the life of the lift and tint.
How long does a lash lift and tint last and what does it cost?
A lash lift and tint on average lasts 4-6 weeks. It just depends on your type of lashes and even your eyelashes natural growth cycle. With proper care, you can extend the life of your lift and tint for up to 8 weeks.
Lash lift and tint pricing varies by each salon/spa and usually range anywhere from $65 to about $210. Many factors can play a role in pricing such as location, supply and demand, experience, as well the products being used.
